What are the different types of renewable energy schemes ?

Renewable Energy Guarantee of Origin (REGO)

100% of the electricity we provide is certified as being sourced from UK based wind and solar generators. For every Megawatt hour (MWh) of electricity purchased for our customers, we also purchase a Renewable Energy Guarantee of Origin (REGO) certificate, which proves the electricity is certified as being sourced either directly from the renewable generators or through a green wholesale energy provider.

Other renewable energy schemes

Renewables Obligation

Under this government scheme, energy suppliers provide support for renewable electricity generators. Robin Hood Energy pays a contribution in proportion to its market share, either by purchasing Renewables Obligation Certificates (ROCs) directly from renewable generators, or by paying into a buy-out fund.

Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)

The RHI is an incentive from the government for users of renewable heat. Anybody who meets the requirements of the scheme is eligible to receive quarterly payments for seven years, for the amount of renewable heat their system produces.

Feed-in-Tariff (FiT)

The FITs is an environmental programme introduced by the government to promote the use of small-scale renewable and low-carbon electricity generation technologies. visit our Feed-in-Tariffs page for more information
