We can confirm that the sale of our business to British Gas has now completed. British Gas will start writing to customers from week commencing 21st September inviting them to move across.

We will be here to continue supporting our customers and to make that journey as seamless as possible.

How do I read my gas meter?

Here are the different types of gas meters, what you’ll see, and how to read them.

Digital meters

Write down the five numbers shown from left to right, ignoring the numbers after the decimal point (these may be shown in red). The meter reading here is 00372.

Imperial meters

Write down the four numbers shown from left to right, ignoring the numbers in red. The meter reading here is 2988.

Dial meters

Read the four dials from left to right along the bottom row only. Write down the number closest to each pointer. If the pointer is between two numbers, write down the lower number. But if it’s between 9 and 0, write down 9. Remember each dial turns in the opposite direction to the one before it, so check which way each turns. The meter reading here is 6456.
